Jobline / Dispatch Procedures
All available jobs and their descriptions will be listed on the UA Local 114 job line. The job line is active from 5:00pm to 8:00am, daily. This is a recording only and will tell you what jobs are available. The job line number is 805-688-1470.
Sign up for available jobs shall be performed in person or by phone (805-688-1470), from 8:00am to 9:00am, Monday thru Friday, dispatch shall follow. Dispatch will be by trade, skill, and book. This is defined in the MLA. Apprentices will be dispatched at the discretion of the Business Manager. Other certifications may be specified such as Braze certification, OSHA 30/10, etc. Work orders must be picked up and signed before reporting to the job.
You may sign the Out of Work List (OWL) anytime. To be eligible for dispatch, you must sign the OWL the day before the dispatch (by 4:30pm). To ensure your position it is recommend that you sign the OWL in person. However, signing of the OWL books can be accomplished by phoning the Office. Those who call shall be signed in the order that they called at the end of the business day (4:30pm). All Members should sign the OWL as soon as possible when you are no longer employed. You have to be unemployed before you sign the OWL. This includes quit, fire, reduction of work force, or lack of work of any kind. If, from the day you report for work and the last day you worked is less than five (5) calendar days you will be restored to your former place on the OWL. You must note this on the sign in sheet for the OWL.
After registering for the job between 8:00am and 9:00am, it is your obligation to be available to accept the dispatch. If you are not in the office or contactable by phone by 10:00am, you will not get the job. It is the member’s responsibility to call the Hall and provide the proper information to register for a job (805-688-1470). Call the job line for a list of available jobs, not the hall. Call the hall only to register for a job.
